Factors that can get your visa rejected
Expired Passport
Applying with a passport that has expired or expires within 6 months.
Insufficient Funds
Failing to demonstrate enough financial resources to support your stay.
Criminal Record
Having a criminal history that disqualifies you from obtaining a visa.
Previous Visa Violations
Having overstayed or violated the terms of a previous visa.
Yes. Entry is always at the discretion of the immigration officer and can be refused for insufficient documentation, a passport with under 6 months validity, past overstays, or previous visa violations. Complete, correct paperwork is your best protection.
Yes, including children - every traveller needs their own visa. You can apply for everyone in a single booking with MyVisitVisa and we process them together. Minors travelling alone or with only one parent may need extra supporting documents.
No. The VoA and e-VoA cover tourism, visiting family or friends, business meetings, site visits and transit only. You may not sell goods or services or receive wages from a company in Indonesia. Work or study requires a different visa.
It is technically possible, but frequent border runs are viewed unfavourably by immigration officers and can result in refusal of entry. If you want a longer stay, a 60-day visa or a formal extension is the safer route.
Yes. Indonesia uses a digital arrival and customs declaration that must be completed online before you exit the airport. It is separate from your visa, is free on the official government portal, and can only be submitted within 72 hours of arrival.
Overstaying incurs a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day and can lead to deportation or a future travel ban. If your plans change, extend before your permit expires rather than overstaying.
Yes, once, for an additional 30 days. Since June 2025 you must attend an immigration office in person to do it. Start the process at least a week before your current permit expires, as appointments can take time.
The usual causes are a passport expiring within 6 months, a photo or passport scan that doesn't meet format rules, details that don't match the passport exactly, and no evidence of onward travel. We check all of these before submitting.
Usually 1 to 3 business days through MyVisitVisa. We recommend applying at least several days before departure so there is room to correct anything if a document needs replacing.
For Indonesia e-VOA you will need a passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry with a blank page, a recent passport-style photo on a plain background, your onward or return travel details, and your accommodation address in Indonesia.
No - they are two separate payments. The Tourism Levy is IDR 150,000 per person, paid through the official Love Bali platform, and funds environmental and cultural preservation in Bali. It does not replace your visa, and having one does not exempt you from the other.
The government fee is IDR 500,000, roughly AUD 50. Visitors to Bali also pay a separate Bali Tourism Levy of IDR 150,000 (about AUD 15). Our service fee is shown clearly at checkout with no hidden charges.
Both grant a 30-day stay. The VoA is bought at the airport on arrival; the e-VoA is applied for online before departure and unlocks the automated e-Gates, letting you skip the on-arrival visa counter. For most travellers the e-VoA is faster and less stressful.
30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days - 60 days in total. Since June 2025 extensions must be completed in person at an Indonesian immigration office; they can no longer be done entirely online.
Yes. South Africa passport holders are not eligible for visa-free entry to Indonesia. For tourism you need a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or its online version, the e-Visa on Arrival (e-VoA / B1). We recommend the e-VoA because you apply before you fly and can use the automated e-Gates on arrival instead of queuing at the visa counter.
