Quick answer: most visitors to Bali need an Indonesia e-VOA (electronic visa on arrival). It costs Rp500,000, lets you stay 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days. Citizens of ASEAN countries can visit without a visa. Before you fly, everyone also submits an arrival card, and Bali charges a tourist levy of IDR 150,000.

This guide covers which Bali visa you need, how the e-VOA works and what to do before you travel. We checked it against Indonesia's official e-Visa website on 19 September 2026.

What you can do on an e-VOA

According to Indonesia's official e-Visa website, the e-VOA lets you:

  • have a holiday or visit friends and family

  • discuss, negotiate or sign business agreements, and make site visits

  • get medical treatment

You can't sell goods or services, or receive wages from people or companies in Indonesia. Overstaying or breaking the visa conditions can lead to fines or deportation.

How to apply for the e-VOA

You can apply on Indonesia's official e-Visa website, pay the Rp500,000 by card, and download your e-VOA from the email link once it's approved. You can also buy a visa on arrival at the airport, but applying online means you land with it already approved.

Or let MyVisitVisa do it. We're a private company, not the Indonesian government. Our price includes the government fee plus our service fee. We check every detail against your passport before we submit it, apply for your whole group, and keep you updated by email and WhatsApp. If your visa is refused, we refund our service fee.

Before you fly to Bali: 3 things

  1. Your visa. Get your e-VOA (or check that you're visa-free).

  2. Your arrival card. Indonesia requires every traveller to submit an arrival card within 3 days before arriving. Here's how to submit the All Indonesia arrival card.

  3. The Bali tourist levy. Bali charges international tourists IDR 150,000 (about US$8.50). You can pay it online on the official Love Bali website, on your own or as a group.

Extending your stay

You can extend the e-VOA once, for another 30 days, through the "Extend My Visa" section of the official e-Visa website. Apply before your first 30 days end. For Australians, we have a step-by-step guide: how to extend a Bali visa on arrival.

Longer stays and other reasons to visit

The e-VOA and C1 are for visits. The official e-Visa website has separate visas for work and employment, study and training, retirement ("silver hair"), second homes, the Golden Visa and more. The requirements depend on the visa, so check the official site or ask our team on WhatsApp.
